After graduating from Emory University’s Middle East and South Asian Studies Department, I thought I’d head over to Jordan and see what was really up in this part of the world. I took some Arabic classes, dabbled in development work and journalism, and worked for some time doing corporate public relations.
After nearly three and half years I left my beloved Jordan to seek my fortune in Afghanistan. I am thrilled to be in this beautiful, intoxicating country, and hope to stay as long as I can.
”I hate clean, orderly countries where everything works. I like hot, messy, passionate countries that are barely keeping their shit together” – Anthony Bourdain
“In such a world of conflict, a world of victims and executioners, it is the job of thinking people not to be on the side of the executioners.” – Albert Camus
And finally, one last quote for you . . .
“When you call yourself an Indian or a Muslim or a Christian or a European, or anything else, you are being violent. Do you see why it is violent? Because you are separating yourself from the rest of mankind. When you separate yourself by belief, by nationality, by tradition, it breeds violence. So a man who is trying to understand violence does not belong to any country, to any religion, to any political party or partial system; he is concerned with the total understanding of mankind.” – Jiddu Krishnamurti
